Autumn 2005 and wily bunch of Cambridge residents started talking about putting together an ethical guide to Cambridge.
Maybe it was eco-guilt, maybe just trying to 'do something nice' or even 'to have fun'. Whatever the reason the group soon had some guiding principles and a plan.
We've put this website together to help collect and sort 'ethical content', as well as spreading the word and trying to get more people involved in the project.
We're going to pick out some of the best bits and produce an A5 'ethical zine' for Cambridge sometime in 2006. We hope to sell the guide for a minimal price to keep the project running and fund the next print run.
After a month or so the Just Living crew discovered that a University group were working on something very similar, an ethical student guide to Cambridge. To be given away to the new 'freshers' September 2006.
So we've teamed up so as not to duplicate work and, hey, why not make friends?
In turn, we also contacted the Cambridge World Development Movement group, who produced a fair-trade shopping map to Cambridge last year. They're in the process of updating their guide to produce a new version later in 2006.
So now it's a Just Living, Roots & Shoots and World Development Movement thang. We'll have to be careful, it'll soon be a multi-national.
